Running 110 volts to trailer

I'd like to run 110 volts to my pull behind trailer so I had an outlet and some lights in it. Might even want to run a small air compressor in the trailer. I'd add a 12 gauge cord from the trailer that plugs into the rear of the motorhome near the hitch with a Marine type outlet. I have a generator in the rear of the motorhome and could pick up power really easy at the cord where the cord attaches to the motorhome but I'd want to add a breaker there. I guess it would be better to tap into an existing circuit near the back of the RV. That way it would be protected with the main breaker and the branch breaker. Thoughts?

I would step it up to 10ga wiring and use a 20amp circuit in the trailer. You could follow the setup wa8yxm gave you above, but if you're thinking of using it as a workshop type setting, I'd go the higher amps. You'll need them with an air compressor....Dennis

It's just a little compressor. It runs off my 15 amp breakers at the house. I'd use it just for flats on the motorcycles and just in case the rv needed air. Other than that I'd just run rope lights in the trailer and a very small motorcycle battery charger.

If your motor home is a 50 amp odds are you have spare slots in your breaker panel

Just put in a 20 amp breaker and 12-ga wire (12/2+ground) to a outdoor type outlt on the back of the house (RV). You might wish to go Twist Lock on that outlet and plug.. (If you intend to leave hooked up going down the highway) or not. That way you have power there no matter if on Shore or Generator.

It's a 30 amp rv. Twist lock is a good idea. I plan on leaving it plugged in going down the road. I don't think I have a extra slot for a breaker.
