rv antenna

I am having trouble getting over the air channels and I have the stander Rv antenna, is one antenna better then the other, just wondering if the new types of antenna are any better

  • The best RV over the air antenna available is still the Winegard Sensar amplified head VHF/UHF crank up antenna. Add the Wingman add-on or the newer Sensar IV head and it's even better for UHF reception. To really pep up reception even more, add the SensarPro inline amplifier and signal finder. If you're into technical details, here's a link to some comparison testing done by a forum member and professional broadcast engineer:

  • Has it worked before and now it doesn't?
    Is the amplifier turned on?
Is the TV set for antenna?
Did you do a channel scan?
Did you try different antenna directions?

    Please let us know.

The WINEGARD crankup BATWING Antenna is about as good as you can get... Should look like this google photo with the added DIPOLEs....

This antenna has a built-in PREAMP which has to powered by what WINEGARD calls a ANTENNA WALL PLATE panel. This needs to be turned on by pushing a small round switch on the panel to provide 12VDC going up the RG cable to power up the preamp...

This is a neat pictorial about using the BATWING antenna...

Mine picks up HDTV digital signals in the 60 Mile + distances with great reception... I am using a 22-inch VIZIO LCD HDTV Digital Tevelision set from WALMART... Your older trailer may still be using the older analog type heavy TV set. If that is what you have picking up the VIZIO type TV set will make all the difference in the world for you. The National Broadcast System for local OTA TV changed over to digital TV everywhere now back in 2009 I think it was... I threw out all of my old heavy TV sets back then and got the new digital HDTV sets from WALMART to replace them.

If you are still using the old heavy analog TVs you need to have a Digtal TV converter box on it to be able to pick the digital TV signals...
