RV door lock recall

Just heard about this door lock recall and wanted to post for your information.

  • The one in the Jayco in my signature did that a few months out of warranty. No one was in the rig at the time, and no one could get in the rig either. A locksmith could not get in, but an RV Repair shop figured out how, they started unbolting the door until they could reach in with a screwdriver and remove the lock. My wallet was $300 lighter before all was said and done.

It might not be just the new models.
In our travels quite a few years back, we stopped for a meal & couldnt get out.
At that time in life, I didnt trust those RV doors, so when on the road would lock the door for safety. Pulled into a Cracker Barrel & door wouldnt unlock so we could get out.
Had to take the door handle apart on the inside just to get the door open, or crawl out a window, which was not an option for wife or me.
Talk about an uneasy feeling, riding down the road with a bungy strap holding the door closed just to complete our trip was not good.
Once home, I took the door handle apart & the slide piece inside that locks & unlocks the door, had broken & the lock couldnt be released.
So those handle pieces messing up not just started today & I would guess theres probably others gone through the same thing.

I had a similar problem happen on a previous MH one Sunday morning when trying to leave for church service. The door would not open and I did not want to use the emergency window so I used the driver's side door to get out.
  • This was posted by Johnny T several days ago.over 2 million locks affected...:E:E....Dennis
