RV Service Timeframe

Whenever I take my RV to have it serviced, it always takes 3+ weeks to get the RV back. Following up with the service tech usually means calling several times before ever getting in touch with them and usually never receiving a call back. I am in touch with them approximately every 2-3 days but sometimes more often. How often do you usually visit with your service tech during the time it is in service? I am beginning to think that they believe I am being a pest but I know that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. What are your thoughts on getting updates from service?

  • The only time my trailer has been away from me for more than 4 days was when the insurance company was involved in replacing the roof. That took about three weeks from start to finish and I thought that was OK.
  • My experience, with my TT, has not been the service center causing the delays but the warranty claim process and getting the parts in will cause these big delays.
  • What kind of servicing? Do they need to order parts? DO you get to know your service people as a frequent customer? Do you bring the shop a dozen or so of donuts as a nice jesture? Do you write down the mileage before droping it off for service? Have you visited the service center to ensure your MH is there and not rented out for 2 weeks?
