RV weight 2013 Winnie Vista 27N

Our 2013 Winnie Vista 27N was weighed. On the curb side is the galley, stove, micro/convec, fridge, pantry, dresser drawers, small hanging wardrobe, hot water tank, half of the fr water tank and an outside TV.
That side of the RV is 750 lbs more than the other side. Does that not create a problem with the tires carrying more weight on that side?

  • Thanks all for your comments. it was a 4 corner weigh at an RV convention with all of our stuff. The difference was really 850 lbs, but i was able to move 100 LBS to the other side. interesting too is that the passenger side with all of the weight has the bigger basement compartments. How can Winnebago design something that out of balance?. Interestingly enough, when we picked up the MH new, i told the
service manager that the rock guard looked higher on the driver's side than on the passenger side...so it is the weight on the passenger side with the components etc that caused the difference.

  • Without knowing the four corner weight hard to say but wouldn't worry about it. You have 18K chassis and I would guess loaded you probably around 15K. The makes the 750 difference just 5% of you total estimated weight. Even less if you are fully loaded to GVWR.

Moving one pound of weight from the curd side to the street side actually has a two pound effect to the weight distribution if you want to try are reduce the difference. Move you canned goods from the pantry to the dinette and take a look at what is were in the exterior storage.

Some amount of side to side weight differential is the norm in motorhomes. Just adjust the inflation pressure of the tires on each axle to reflect the weight of the heavy side.
  • The optimal way to weigh your rig is four corner weigh, but that is not always possible. So I can assume you had yours weighed at a regular scale. That said, it will make it easier if you post the results on your weight ticket here. We can then help you make a better decision. You are correct in your assumption, but more info is needed.

Before taking your coach to the scale, load it as you would taking a "normal" vacation/camping trip etc. This will give you a good idea of how your weight is distributed. That way you can move some of your "stuff" from one side to the other and/or front to back to balance it out....Dennis

That is why you do corner weight and set you psi per tire manufacturer inflation charts using the higher corner weight for both sides. Take a look at How to Weight your Travel Trailer or RV and drop way down to the RV: Individual Wheel Position Weights section.
