I guess they must work but the position, hanging low behind the rear wheels, did not look like it would last. I even asked the salesman about it. He got quite offended when I suggested it might get ripped off at a gas station, he told me it wouldn't happen because they knew how to design motorhomes. Guess he was right :)
The one on my Coachmen has been there for 19 years so far. There aren't any scrape marks on it yet, despite some of my best efforts. :B
