self contained RVs???

I agee, your definition is what I thought was self-contained. The only thing I can think of is maybe it requires a generator.

x2. If you have holding tanks and a generator, you're good to go, anywhere.
I would like to hear the dealers definition of self contained.

I would guess it means you can go away from civilization and still have whatever you need. A generator, or some other source of power, like a large solar array, would be necessary.

As midnightsadie inferred, I wouldn't take the dealer's word for it.

My 5er is self-contained......without a generator.

Many B's, TC's, and smaller TT's do not have complete bath and/or kitchen facilities.

Self contained by My understanding is any camping unit that has the following:
Onboard water,
onboard bathroom (toilet) facitites,
and a way to store same(grey and black water) holding it until it can be properly disposed of.
NOT thing about power. You can survive without the 120v power.
I had a popup that met these requirements, but I also had a generator for NASCAR races.
Most modern RV's meet these requirements today.
some of the old school PU's would not and some older TT's would not.

Self Contained means all systems can be operated using only internal equipment. Most Class A's, B's C's, and some 5er's with generators would be considered "Self Contained"

Here's one definition:

Self Contained - RV which needs no external electrical, drain or water hookup. Thus, it can park overnight anywhere. Of course, self-contained units can also hook up to facilities when at campgrounds.

I'm thinking if you have a battery system, it would be considered a self contained unit. A generator is not necessary?

Dealerships employ people. People check the boxes when filling out the advertising forms. Many of those people are not RVers and some have less than average intelligence. Consequently I don't put a lot of stock in those ads.

Off topic but related, I just test drove an automatic transmission car that was listed as a manual transmission in multiple places.
