4" PVC and as far as how much will fit.....best bet is to compress the hose you have and measure that. The length for me is the length of the tube, plus some up on the threaded cap area, some in the elbow and then some in the compartment. The pvc length (main run) for me was about 20" and then there is about another inch after the elbow then about 6" from the compartment opening (flange) to the connection. I fit a 10' hose in there and its quite tight.
