Septic line

Need to replace old septic to 1994 Georgie boy. Know nothing about them or even how they work and am looking for recommendations for a replacement and any accessories one might use.
  • Based on your other post it is evident that you just purchased this coach.

The black system consists of a toilet, maybe a sink and shower, a holding tank with a valve on the end of the tank.

Usually the tank is not the problem. Sometimes you may need to replace the toilet or a faucet but not the tank. the shutoff valve at the end of the tank might also need to be replaced.

All of this is supplied by a fresh water system that is another matter.

What area of the system do you need information on? Toilet, faucets, or valve?
  • Thank you for noting my newbie status and lack of correct terminology. I need to replace the hose that drains the black water tank. And anything that goes with it. We will be mobile not a permanent site. And will often be emptying in to my home septic line.
  • Keep in mind that the holding tank in your RV is nothing like your septic tank at home. Your black tank is simply somewhere to hold waste but does not digest or eliminate anything. Plenty of water is necessary for maintaining a healthy holding tank. If everything is working properly and you just need the hose that runs from the holding tank to the sewer connection you will find these available at very RV dealer in the area or available on line if that's more convenient. There are many makes and models but they are all about the same.
  • The hose, also know as the stinky slinky, can be purchases at many stores including Walmart. Storing the hose in the bumper of the TT (travel trailer) can sometimes abrade the hose and small leaks will happen. Some people keep the hose in a 5 gallon bucket or other container to protect it against leaks.

Have fun in your new adventures
