yeah......not so much! Although he did confess to turning the tank back on sometime in the wee hours of the morning, in his skivvies. That must have been a sight. Hope there were no security cameras operating in Camp Walmart last night.

Had to laugh...I'm sure he was relieved when you woke him to explain the problem was fixed.

DOT 5.1 is a polyethylene glycol-based fluid like DOT 3 and DOT 4 and should be compatible. DOT 5 is silicone based and not compatible with DOT 3 and DOT 4.

FWIW my 2001 has a LP detector, but it's not hooked up to anything. Just an alarm.

Dot 5 and Dot 3 are NOT compatible at all....O'Rings, etc., etc.. However, I am not familiar with Dot5.1. IS 5.1 and 3 compatible?

Unless I knew for sure that there was LP in my tank I wouldn't trust the accuracy of the gauge.

On the other hand there are other possibilities mentioned and a regulator failure at 14+ years old is certainly a possibility.

Could it be the pressure regulator died?

When our propane quit, resetting the propane leak detector inside the MH fixed it. Just turn it off for a few seconds, then back on. It will go through a series beeps, while resetting itself. Hope it works for you.

Don’t feel bad about the problems you’re having, I’m sittin’ here in TX with one day after another of triple-digit temps living in my RV and trying to find all the bugs before I start my North American Adventure Decade this fall. I’d hoped to start it at the end of May, but wasn’t able to purchase my RV until the end of April, which didn’t leave me with enough time to move into it and de-bug it before hell, I mean summertime, arrived in all its relentless sweltering fury. I suppose the good news is, if I’m going to have any serious AC issues I’ll learn about them between now and October.

BTW friends have said “Steve, you live in an RV, why don’t you just leave?” Well here’s the problem, I never got a chance to thoroughly go through all the mechanicals before the summer heat arrived. Before I take it on the road I want to replace the shocks, replace the tires, give it a thorough engine inspection and tune-up with all HD wiring etc, inspect and replace as needed any brake system parts, replace all the automotive fluids (including the DOT 3 brake fluid with DOT 5.1), and do some needed repairs (such as repair the engine powered heater/defroster which is currently snubbed off). Yep, just a few little tasks left to do before I feel comfortable heading out.

Check your 12 volt circuit breakers and fuses. The safety solenoid on the LP gas valve needs power to stay open.
