dirty fiver on shakedown cruise

We are setting out for Redding CA tomorrow for the shakedown on our Rookwood 5th wheel. I have gone over the manual several times and find no surprises about the set up or function of most items. We have to keep our fiver at a storage lot 20 miles away due to the fact that we can not maneuver it into our driveway. The drive way is steep, narrow and bends around a huge pine tree. Today I checked the tires, loaded the fiver with items we expect to use and a bunch we never will. I noticed it is really dirty from sitting all winter. For all you rv'ers of any design that depend on storage other than home, what facilities are available for washing and waxing large units?
  • By the looks of the responses my 5er will have a nice shiny appearance on the return trip. We drive right through corning on the way to Redding. Thanks a lot for the help. And the wash and wax for $224 + tip would fit into my budget as well.
  • We came back from OR a couple weeks ago and had our 32' 5thw and truck washed at the blue becon in Corning for about $48.
  • Sometimes at some private CGs you can wash your unit, even if the rules say NO washing.

Ask. Especially on the morning that you were going to leave & if you can you will be staying another night. Doing it on a weekday when the CG is not very full is more likely to get a yes answer.

32 = 224 but from other responses looks like fiver is way less
  • When needed we use one of the mobile RV washers available in a lot of RV Parks.

Last time was a couple months ago in Casa Grande and the service washed from roof on down and then hand waxed (with Meguiars) our rig...all for $110...well worth it for us.

Use to do the roof and the rest myself but now scared of heights and older. ;)
  • Have used Blue Beacon, which a lot of truck stops have on their lot. The only thing is that they don't do the roof. Do a pretty good job. When I took the 5er in I also had the truck done. Both around $60.
  • Thanks for the info. I never thought of truck stops. I have heard of the folks that come out and do it but always figured them a little too pricy for a poor old retired guy. Maybe once a year but not for regular upkeep. But thanks again for the response, it is an option.

  • Here in California most private campgrounds have a recommended vendor who will come to you in the campground.

I am in Salinas today having mine done
I am paying about $7 a foot for wash and wax including wax of the fiberglass room.

The are not done yet and 2 men started 6 hours ago
