Back decades ago, when I worked on VW's, we used http://www.wrenchouse.com/Striking-Hammer-Wrenches.php
to loosen rear axle nuts when no high-priced air tools available.
The shock of the hammer helps break rust/corrosion free.
And, though it may be a lot of work, I would be afraid of a commercial shop where they may hit it with a 1" air gun and break off the mounting bolt/stud! Slow/worrying it is better.
