- DSDP_DonExplorer"mikestock".....The Ready Brake, is just the braking system minus the tow bar, same company, same system. The only downside of adding the Ready Brake to your existing tow bar is that it adds a foot of length.
Tow bars are easy to sell. If you think you like the Ready Brute, sell your tow bar and buy the new all in one Ready Brute. You'll be happy you did. My neighbor bought just the Ready Brake unit and added it to his tow bar, but between a drop down hitch, Ready Brake and tow bar, he added about three feet of extra gear. He sold all of the components on Craigslist and then just bought the Ready Brute.
Shop around, their are several companies that offer the system. - mikestockExplorerIt appears that the Ready Brute is an all-in-one system. If this is trye it wouldn't be best for me, since I already have a Blue Ox tow system. Or am I misreading this?
- DSDP_DonExplorerI don't have a Ready Brake/Ready Brute system (Night Shift Auto), but I would pick that as one of the number one choices for simplicity. Installation is really just a matter of running a permanently mounted cable from the bumper, through the firewall to the brake pedal.
"mikestock"....from your description of your skills, the Ready Brute will be a simple install for you. The CRV isn't heavy and the Ready Brute will do a good job. It's an all in one system. Buy the tow bar and it comes with the brakes attached.
Ready Brute - bigdog2ExplorerI think the ready brute system is the easiest, once installed all you do is connect the cable. It's all mechanical, so no fuses, etc.
readybrake.com - mikestockExplorerDoes that mean she can walk up to my motor home and toad and get it working or does that mean she can install the assembly in the towed?
I'm not sexist enough to assume that it is easy just because your wife can install it. She might be able to do a lot of stuff I can't do. - bluwtr49Explorer III agree that the Brake buddy is the simplest to install however I did have to have the shank cut down and a new hold drilled to fit the drop down receiver adapter.
I now have the M&G system which a moderately talented DYI guy could easily install. This is my personal favorite of the two. - WyoTravelerExplorerThe Blue Ox Patriot works for me
- hersheyExplorerBrake Buddy. My wife can put mine in place and activate.
- BumpyroadExplorereasiest is brake buddy type.
