slide maintenance

How do you grease the slideout? Do you just put grease on the rails or grease on the cogs where the gear catches?

What kind of grease do you use? Regular bearing/axle grease?

What is causing the black marks on the inside of the coach on the tile floor? SO wants to know what will take those marks off? She has tried comet and Mr clean.

Thank you,

GGeorge

    I spray mine with a liquid slide lube. I think it's a silicone - it's not dry.
After a dozen years of lubing it I haven't got any acumulation of dirt. In fact, when I drive in dusty conditions I just spray the rack off again.
If I don't lube it for a while I can tell a difference in how it moves once I finally do oil it. Much smoother and faster.

Silicone dry lube spray is in a liquid suspension when it's applied, but then the liquid evaporates leaving behind a dry silicone coating.

I know what dry lube is and this stuff stays plenty wet.

EDIT: Correction, not silicone, the spray looks (and smells) to be teflon and it repells dirt.

  • Lube? Nothing but dry lube! Anything else can attract dirt and cause more problems than nothing.
There is usually nylon rub strips the slide room guildes on. As they wear the slide room droops a bit causing dragging on the floor.
