- Dale_TravelingExplorer III had to remove my toppers last year as part of other maintenance. Found several You Tube videos with detail procedures to remove the toppers, replace the material and adjusting/setting the spring tension. Not diffacult but unforgiving if you make a mistake.

Sagging fabrics will NOT get tighter by attempting to add tension to the springs. To TEST this is simple. Take your hand and roll the tube tighter and you will find that you cannot pull it tighter. The fabric is stretched and you cannot tighten it up. Doug
Mine was tightened up in Quartzsite, They just put more tension on the spring, Works fine.

Read and understand my post. IF you manually rotate the awning by hand tighter and the sag does NOT go away, then adding tension will not do anything for sag.---I really do not care what is done elsewhere. I have 34 years experience as a RV tech and know full well what you can and cannot do to sagging slide covers. I would NEVER charge a customer for adding tension after doing my test. There is also a fine line between TOO MUCH tension on a slide cover that may affect extension of the slide room. Doug- vegasfoodguyExplorer II

Terry. - Executive45Explorer IIIIt's a simple job, IF you know what you're doing, have the proper tools and don't mind an extended time on a ladder. I helped, watched mostly, :B, a mobile tech repair all the neighbor's awnings. I'm pretty handy but I'll call someone when mine need done...just sayin.....Dennis

My coach has care free covers over slides, they are sagging. Is there any adjustments to tighten up the awnings. Thanks.

You'll need to install carter pins or nails through each end of the roller before removing it. Then once on the ground, get some help holding it, before removing the pins and crank it up a few. If you really want it done right and assuming no fatigue, then undo it and start over with 13 turns on the rollers. This gets pretty tight, so BE CAREFUL. I'd probably just go with the former idea here unless I was cutting some off and having it resewn, which very well could be needed as well and how I came about with doing this. Saved buying new material and there is more than what's needed on there. NOt sure if I could do it again though with as much as I had to cut off the first time. - Sagging fabrics will NOT get tighter by attempting to add tension to the springs. To TEST this is simple. - tandkjExplorerOne of the ends has a screw type catch that can be removed and the awning can be adjusted to tighter. Be careful, if you loosen the end with it being free to roll, the spring will unroll all the way and you have to start over. Best have someone that is knowledgeable do it the first time while you watch.
