Small animals in the Southwest

During rattle snake season (Apx April->November) You need to keep you dogs away from brush, that is one of the places they like to hide. Always look where you and the dog are walking. In Havasu I rarely see any snakes in town. The closer to the open desert you are, the more critters you will encounter. I have been here for the last 14 years and have only seen a couple of rattle snakes, and both of them were within 100' of the open desert. Scorpions are everywhere, tarantulas are rare, coyotes are all over the place and are probably the worst threat to small pets.
