Small class c and no car?

I am considering getting a small 24 foot class c. One of the small units on a Mercedes chassis. I am not interested in towing. I was a full timer for 8 years and toyed a Honda.

Are any of you driving small a class c and not towing? Do you have any issues using the mh to run around in in plac of a car when you are out camping? If I decide to settle for a few weeks I would rent a car. Any of you doing this?

Thanks for your comments.

Steve
  • We have a 24 footer and always take a car for any trip more than one night. It all depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it.
  • We have a View and used it without a toad until I found my ROCKY. We did drive a lot of places without a toad, but for what we like to do now is be able to park the MH and flit around easily in the ROCKY. I'm sure there will be plenty of times when we go to the beach or such when we won't want to take our toad.
  • We have had our 24 ft Winnebago Minnie for 13 years and 95,000 miles and have never seen the need to tow a car. We did rent a car one trip to drive the Going To The Sun highway in Glacier NP.

We have made six 8-9 week trips out west and had a great time on all. We are also thinking of trying snowbirding next winter.
  • I am wondering if any of you have spent a couple of months in your small class c? Might take it to Florida, Texas or Arizona during the winter.

    Thanks.
  • I have had a Sunseeker 2300 24'4" for five years now. We never hook up to water or sewer just electric so running errands are no big deal We have never rented or towed. Almost always find parking. The big cities can be a problem. We will take a bus or we do have our bikes in a pinch.
  • We own a 29 ft Class C and don't tow. On occasion we rent a car - but that's rare. Doesn't take much to pack up for a short trip to the store or whatever and we leave chairs etc at campsite and have never encountered theft etc.
  • thats just what we did,got tired of the big A and bought a LTV on a sprinter chassis ,about 7 years back .I,ll never have a monster again, we went from 7mpg to 20 mpg, and have all the room we need wanna go to town no problem. want some ice cream just pull in. love it.
  • We have a Winnebago View 24V which on a Mercedes-Benz sprinter chassis. We have not needed a tow and we have put on over 30,000.

These are easy park, if you can back over a grassy area you will only use one parking spot.

If in an RV part it is no big deal to unhook the water and electric and just go. Since it is 130 miles for us to go to the Doctor, we sometimes take the MH and spend the night rather than making it a quick trip in the car.

I don't know if we will ever have a tow.
