Snap Disc Thermostat for Norcold external fans

I am going to install some extra fans behind the 1200 Norcold. I have read where others used a disc thermostat that was NO and closed at 130. Where can I obtain one of these? I know they are cheap items but some of the places want almost $20.00. Thanks

  • Wouldn't a cut out @ 90 degrees be too low? On a warm day the fans would run continuous.

    Hi Moisheh,

I used a mechanical adjustable thermostat. It ran today even though the weather here is coolish. I think 130 F is far too hot for a cut in temperature.

Don remember all the test data threads I posted 2-3 years ago when we installed our Amish cooling unit. A 130F down to 110F cycles would be about ideal the best I remember. If the top coils do not get really hot the temperature gradient just is not there that is needed. While Norcold pushed their cooling units demands too far in the 1200 series they do know the best temperature of the disc settings I expect. :)

We found in our Norcold 6162 short of triple digits the fan(s) helped a bit on the initial cool down especially if on propane because of all the waste heat but not in day to day usage that was worth the drain on the batteries if no shore power.

Yes the 1200 needs a lot of help.
  • I used a White Rogers 3F01-110, cuts in at 110, out at 90. It's been operating for 8 years trouble free, I did replace the fans this summer.

I put that number in a search and the most expensive one I saw (quickly) was $7.07.

  • Try Grainger. You are looking for a disk thermostat fan switch. Limit switches look similar but they open at the set temperature. Normally, the fan switch will close at the set temperature and then open at a temperature about 20 degrees lower.
