split/two piece matress

Looking at jumping into a class C. I really like the floor plan of the couch and dinette on the same side, but would rather keep it short. I also like the triple slide shorter units (Winnie 26A, forester 2501TS, redhawk 26XD). I noticed these shorter rigs with bedroom slides all have a two piece mattress, some fold in half the others slide over themselves.

How comfortable are these mattress'? Can you keep the bed made with the slide in? Thoughts?

Tried searching, but not sure what wording to use and found no results.

Thanks!

  • Can you keep the bed made or do you have to make it up after putting the slide out?
  • If you don't like the split mattress try a piece of egg crate foam. This should level out the split portion.

  • I have a split mattress in my Forest River MH, split across the mattress, about waist level. We don’t notice it, and DW is pretty picky. We were concerned about the same, but find the mattress AT LEAST as comfortable as that we had in our Lazy Daze. You might question if some responders have any actual experience with them.
