State Farm gave me ERS for $10 per year!

I had ERS through my insurance company (allstate). Had a flat on my rig and needed help. They had a terrible time finding someone. They eventually found someone over a hundred miles away. This was half way between Orlando and Titusville, FL. I got the impression they were not really set up to handle anything but cars.

I have Geico and pay $12 a year or $1 a month for ERS coverage.

The coverage is outstanding.

Geico just covered a 277 mile tow on a flatbed in Canada to the tune of $5000.

Never could figure out the big hoopla with Good Sam ERS or Coachnet for $80-100 a year when your better insurance companies offer the coverage for $6-$20 a year.

At least in Geico's case, which is what I have experience with, they know full well when I call that I have a 43,000 lb, 43 foot motorhome, I don't have to tell them anything. No mickey mousing around, they send out a semi tractor and flatbed trailer.

I have Erie with full coverage, they will even pay for a motel if needed. My coach is an old 1992. Total ins. bill for coach is only $221 per year with real good coverage.

I've had State Farm on my toad & home for years and started out with them on my MH, but after reading their policy & talking to the agent concluded that their ERS is designed for autos and very limited when it comes to an RV. I switch to Progressive 4 years ago on the MH, got better collision, PL/PD and the same ERS coverage that Good Sam's provides all for about the same premium State Farm was charging. Premiums have risen very little since then and they were VERY good with my claim for two windshields that got stone struck.

Off topic, but it can easily be towed. Replacement brake cans come with a rod which locks the springs compressed. Once installed they're removed and useless, but any decent tow truck driver will have several in his truck for just such a situation.

although I have coach net and will keep it, for $10 I might just talk to my state farm agent.

I have SF for my car insurance but the RV insurance thru Progressive is several hundred cheaper, which pays for my Good Sam roadside coverage that covers all vehicles. OTOH, the Good Sam RV insurance is much higher than Progressive. You have to really research to beat the system (or at least break even).

We have always had the add-on with our insurance usually both Progressive and GMAC and it's worked beautifully with no addt'l cost for towing. Ours is $6 now!

We have Foremost insurance on our mh. With that we have roadside assistance for a reasonable rate. I have been towed 4 or 5 times and had roadside assistance twice more for tire repairs. They have been very good to use. When they have towed us they also found the place to tow us to. I was then able to talk to the repair shops to make sure that they would be able to do the work.

When I needed towing, they provided the right size wrecker who knew how to tow a motorhome. They provided the shop to tow it too and an appointment for work upon arrival. I did not have to advance any cash, or show a credit card.

When I didn't need towing they located mobile repair to come to my site (WalMart parking lot in Fort Stockton TX) and got me moving. They arranged an appointment for the nearest repair facility in the direction I was headed.

When I needed an appoint for transmission oil change while I was on the road they set it up for me. And I can't count the number of times I called from the side of the road with something that they could get a tech to walk me through on the spot so I could roll on down the road.
