While doing my normal prep for a quick weekend trip, I fired up the refer on LP. After a few minutes smoke started billowing out of the exterior vent. I thought I had a fire. I shut it down and opened it up. In the flame tray there were several dozen stink bugs cooked to a crisp. In the last 2 weeks we have had a banner year for stink bugs. By the droves they get into every nook and crevice they can. They literally coat the warm side of the house. They get inside the slide seals so when you open or close you smash a dozen and of course the awful smell shortly follows. Insane. Anyway I guess I'll have to run it this weekend on electric until I can open the whole thing up and clean it out. It's hard enough some times to do proper maintenance on an RV but these little boogers and their late summer plague are out of control. From what I understand they are but another Chinese transplant with no natural predators and no effective deterrent. Moral of the story, if you live in stink bug heaven, tape up your vents and ducts as best you can.

They was really bad here here last year but I have only seen a couple of them here in Northern Neck Virginia this year.It was interesting last year when they was telling how good the stink bugs was to eat. Had all kinds of recipes on the local news showing all of this. The News anchor folks all ate them for all to see on their news program...Cook'em up I reckon...Roy Ken

I'm watching this post very closely. The stink bugs have begun their invasion here in northern Michigan and I hope someone, anyone can offer solutions. Will definitely check the coach and seal up any entries to furnace, fridge, etc. Thanks for the tip!

Last year I too found many stink bugs around the propane tanks under the cover etc... I don't know if that was a convenient place to get or maybe they like the scent of propane???Hopefully this year we will have some below zero temp days this year and kill off a bunch of these pests...Roy Ken

I am going to try this: dishwashing detergent mixed with water and sprayed on the bugs.Will it work? Don't know but worth a try. Earlier this spring we had an infestation of box elder beetles. I mean, thousands of them. Looked up the bug and that was the solution. No pesticide, just the mix of dishwashing liquid and water. Put it in a spray bottle and voile! Dead bugs. I guess it clogs up their airways or something. Much better than using pesticide or crushing.Dale

I purchased an insecticide via the internet a couple years ago. It is called "demonWP". It comes in a large envelope containing 4 water-soluble bags. It is the only product that I have found to be effective to kill and repel stink bugs. Unfortunately, I do not remember the vendor from whom I purchased the insecticide. You should be able to Goggle "demonWP". Hope this helps.

I have seen many in and around my coach here on Long Island. I have never seen any here before this year. What a pain in the neck they are!

You can make a stink bug trap using a 2-liter bottle, duct tape and a tap light (looks like a hockey puck).

I'm sure that there is Youtube video that can better demonstrate it, but the steps are:

- Cut the 2-liter bottle around the waist 2/3rd the way up the bottle.

Gooogle Marmolated stink bug. We can get poison at Southern States that works for days and have found thousands dead around the house. TSC has a paddle, looks like a tennis racket that will do the same as a bug lite and fry them. Easy to use as they fall when you get close to them with it. They ar ruining tomatoes, peaches, apples and pears at an alarming rate.

We were at Lums Pond State Park in Delaware last year (late Sept.) Only
there for three days and MH was covered with them on the outside. When we
left, pulled in slides and we had a "house full". Spent over 1 hour killing
them before we could leave. Hot Shot and bug spray,vacuum cleaner were used.
Were killing them for over three months. We found them dead in all the compartments, and would suddenly appear on the ceiling. Would pick them off
gently with a paper towel and drop them in a plastic bottle we had by the doorway filled with insect killer and bleach. It was a pleasure to watch them
die!! We even found them behind picture frames and inside books. Wish we could
send them back to Asia!

They can survive for months in the attic and nooks and crannies of your rv too. Nasty little bugs they are.
