Storage near LAX

We are planning an overseas trip out of LAX mid April 2014. Will need to store the coach for about 3 weeks. Covered would be nice but not required (would like power if covered). Decent security IS required. Power not needed as I have plenty of solar.

Near LAX is a relative term. Within an hour travel time would be acceptable. Also would want to leave the tow'd, although I could leave that at an off site lot near LAX.
  • Here's a couple of ideas, if you look at Google earth of the parking lot near Aviation Blvd and W 11th Street by LAX, you'll see the back of the parking lot is filled with RV's. I'm guessing that is some sort of long term parking lot for the airport for people doing just what you're doing. Looks like the lot is fenced in, but who knows how good the security could be.

A second choice is to fly out of one of the commuter airports into LAX to start your trip. For example I bet you would have a much easier time finding short term RV storage around Laughlin, NV, than you would LAX and they have commuter flights over to LAX. The money you save on parking your RV at LAX may even pay the extra for the tickets. And sometimes you find that using the commuter airports doesn't really add a lot to the price. There are all kinds of commuter airports in more RV friendly places like Palm Springs, Laughlin, maybe even Las Vegas.
  • I can't help you, but I once at a conference to attend in Pasadena where I'd be at a hotel for a week. I wanted to spend the week before in my RV so I tried to find a place around Pasadena to park it for a week while I was at the conference and I couldn't find a thing. There was one RV park near by and I tried to just get an RV space and leave it there for the week, but once they found out I was just going to leave it, they even said no.

RV storage lots down there are at a premium and most are full. None wanted anything to do with just a short term storage. Good luck and let us know if you find anything.
