Tape off the area around the hole with painters tape before you apply the JB Weld. - IAMICHABODExplorer II

- mvpmichExplorerThe wood match approach works but doesn't proved an extremely strong condition. There's a product available that looks like small triangular pieces of corrugated metal that are inserted into the hole. The rough edges bind the the surface via the pressure from the screw. Sorry that I don't know the name of the product as I no longer have the packaging.
- powderman426ExplorerIf there is a chance of water entry, I would use Lab metal. It comes in a can like bondo, but when this stuff hardens it is machinable like metal. Its available at Fastenall.
