Sunstar dvd ?

2016 Winn Sunstar, could not get the Pioneer DVD to play. Turned out it was due to player needed to know the E brake was set, but to do this the key would have to be turned on and the brake released twice and reset. Seems odd way to get a player to run, maybe even a little unsafe to do each time you want to watch a movie.
Any one else run into this?
  • One of my pet peeves is people who REFUSE to read the Owners manual. From section 3-8 page 33 of your owners manual. Now, as to setting the park brake twice. NOT NEEDED if functioning correctly. The problem is a Park Brake switch that is not engaging the first time you set it. Look at the Dash Cluster next time you set the parking brake. IF the Dash Cluster Park brake light does NOT come on, then the Park Brake switch did not engage. If you have a FORD chassis, that is a common problem and Ford can fix it. The reason they do this is to PREVENT watching DVD's in transit. Doug

NOTE: When parked the Radio Power switch
should be set to “HOUSE”, make sure
the park brake is set prior to turning the
vehicle off or the radio may not play
    DVDs.
  • Thank you for input.
    The E brake indictor lights.
When the DVD is turned on there is a black screen that says to engage and reset the brake twice.
This only works if the ign is on because the player cannot see this function when the ign is off.
There is nothing in the manual regarding this item.
    And I do read instructions.

Like I stated, Read the manual. You have told me that the DVD player states to engage the PB twice to function. So, WHY would you think that is not correct? The Winne Owners manual just states engage the PB to function the DVD player. Winne cannot list ALL contingencies for the aftermarket equipment they install. So, between the Winne manual and the DVD Screen, all your questions were answered before you posted. ALL PB functions will require the Ign to be ON. Jacks/DVD/slideouts or any other appliance that requires a PB signal. Doug

PS, have you verified the Radio function switch is set to HOUSE?
  • Radio Power Switch
The Radio Power switch lets you connect the
dash radio to the coach batteries with the ignition
switch turned off for listening while parked. This
prevents accidental draining of the chassis
battery with prolonged use of the radio.
    NOTE The HouseCoach Battery Disconnect
switch must be ON while listening to the
dash radio, as the audio relay is powered
by house batteries. If the HouseCoach
Battery Disconnect switch is OFF, the
    speakers will not emit sound.

    Radio Power Switch
    (Located on lower dash area)
Press HOUSE to listen to the radio while
parked without the ignition key on.
Press ENGINE (ENG) to listen while driving
  • I understand all of that, just wanted to know if other owners had the same experience.
