Texas Safety Inspection

I’m way way way overdue for mine. One of the problems is that none of the stations want to inspect something the size of my 33’ Class A. Can any Texans reading this give me an idea where to take it for the safety inspection?

  • Unless the county requires emission test.

It's pretty complicated to check the lights, brakes, horn and wipers on a Motorhome.:W

AAA Tires, Kerrville is where we went when we were traveling and later lived there.
  • I'm currently located in Northwest Houston and will be relocating in a few days to Tomball for the remainder of the winter. I'll make some phone calls to the local type businesses suggested here. It's such a non-issue with both my toad and motorcycle that I was caught off-guard when I inquired at the same places regarding my MH and was turned away.
  • Texas is a mighty large state and you don't say where you will be. Go toTX inspection locator and put in a city you will be near. Sometimes you can tell by the name if it is an RV dealer. Also tire dealers are sometimes a good choice. And commercial/truck dealers also.
  • It might help if we knew where you were. If you've been out of state you have 3 days after returning to the state to get the inspection. Note that the inspection is now tied to the registration. See my post about the new Texas Inspection Requirement. Most inspection stations don't have a problem inspecting RVs. Just pull up in front and go in to the desk.
  • .I live in tyler tx. and jimmy browns automotive has inspected my 44 footer. also the Bacon Chevrolet in frankston tx inspected it many times. also your local DPS office should be able to tell you what stations will inspect motor homes.oh yea if you live in a large city contact automotive dealerships in the smaller cities.they usually have more room for the rvs.
