Thanks to all you DP Pushers!!
All,
Just wanted to pass on a thanks to all of you pro-diesel posters. I have spent months reading everything I could on the pros and cons of a gasser versus a DP. I finally decided to spend a bit more and got a 34 foot 2007 Winnebago Journey with the 350 Cat.
We picked it up near Las Vegas and drove it back to Colorado this week. We took our time and took 4 days. I am so impressed with the ride and handling. Everything you all said about diesels became so apparent: quiet, smooth, handling, torque, etc. Most times you can't hear it back there doing its job. We faced a lot of wind from all directions (except behind us of course) and I never felt like I had to fight it. Only when there were gusts or when you would pass a bridge or something blocking the wind and the coach would drift to the side from the quick lack of side force. Passing head-on semis were a non-issue, no movement at all. Going up the ten miles Wolf Creek Pass I didn't ever lack power, I could accelerate at any time if I wanted to (which I did do now and then just because I was so impressed that a vehicle that size could accelerate so easily going up hill)! Going down the other side wasn't an issue either, exhaust brake and tapping the brakes every now and then did the job. Granted we were pretty light, but it sure was fun to drive.
Thanks for all the great insight and advice!!
