Yes the space is extended, but the point is that an RV designed without a slide optimizes the available space. An RV designed with a slide optimizes the space with the slide out - so when you are suddenly unable to access that extra space it has a greater affect than if you never had a slide.
x2, spot on, its in the design of the intended available space.
I have had rv owners look inside my non slide widebody unit and because of the design and placement of the wardrobe next to the dinette, they thought it WAS a slideout model. (It gives the illusion of, I call it the Sunseeker 'Penn and Teller' Edition :) )
