I'm sorry ScottG, but I think you are reading to much into DesertCaptain's post. No where does he say that real campers don't have slides. He does point out that as he doesn't spend a lot of time inside and doesn't have a lot of people that a slide isn't beneficial to him. Suggesting that those who are inside more and/or have more people/animals a slide may be beneficial.
However, you absolutely do state that RVers want slides.
I understand your exasperation with this type of thread - they do turn into fights and bashing the other side. But so far this one has pretty much remained a "I personnally" type of testimonial to and for slides. And those types of responses help a newbie figure out if a slide will work for them.
As for the sales records proving slides are better for resale, I have never seen an accurate record of sales. Just because more are sold doesn't mean they are preferred - people buy what's out there. Salesman push what they have. Manufacturers make what they want. There's no research that shows any of that is based on actual proven factual data.
