Our first class A was a 26’ Pursuit no slide. Our first major trip was three weeks in Maine
With two big ole Standard Poodles which like to spread out on the floor. There was No room to walk or cook. You had to go outside to change your mind.
We now have a three slide DP, thirteen years old, bought new. I have had two motor/transmission failures and a blown fuse.
The big kitchen slide failed under ext warranty about year three. It died gracefully; going out about six inches then stopping. It went back in, I tried it again, same result then it hit me: if this goes back in DO NOT try again. $1200.
The living room slide failed around year ten. I went to put it out and it never moved an inch. On the way home, it crept out an inch or so. Got home, took a look and the motor trans was GONE. I’m guessing the case cracked and fell off.
I negotiated that repair down to $900.
The bedroom slide blew a fuse. I went to put it in and my arthritic finger slipped I think I hit out then back to in (I hate those tiny switches) and it quit. That motor is accessible under the bed so I got 1/2 drive ratchet and cranked it in.
Folks; you are not going to crank in a big slide underneath with a ratchet unless you have a crew pushing.
When I got home I diagnosed the fuse.
Power Gear hardware.
