A couple years ago I started a thread in this forum to discuss my dilemma.I stated I am resident of Canada that travels to the USA for holidays many times a year.I am also a marijuana user. I talked about my wish of being able to purchase pot to consume while on holidays but not wanting to get involved with purchasing illegally from a drug dealer ( I can purchase legally in B.C. as I have a medical marijuana card for stress related issues) and also not willing to transport drugs across the border which is also illegal. I had hoped that it would be legalized so I could buy small quantities to enjoy while I am on holiday. The response on this forum was very negative.I was told to stay in my own country and I was even threatened with arrest from members who I can only assume were law enforcement officers. The thread was closed quite quickly. I was only voicing my opinion which everyone is entitled to. Fast forward to today and I am now able to purchase legally in Washington and Oregon.I have used marijuana all my adult life and I have used alcohol as well. I do not have a substance abuse problem of any type. I'm 56 yrs. old. own my own business that is successful and have a wonderful family and life. You may agree with my position or not. That is your choice. But I'm happy that the stigma against marijuana is finally going away.Thanks for reading

I guess I still have an issue with your use. You say that you have a medical condition, "stress" that necessitates your need for marijuana, thus you were issued a medical card. Then in the next sentence you say you are glad you can now buy small quantities to "enjoy" in the U.S. Which is it.....do you have a medical condition that requires marijuana, or are you buying it just for enjoyment.Now here's something maybe someone can explain to me. You see all of these medical marijuana stores popping up and the only ones going into them with their "medical cards" are under 30 and look to be in perfect health. Why is that?I guess my issue is....if you want to smoke marijuana....it's your business and many areas have voted to give you that right, but please don't tell me it's a medical issue. Just say you want to smoke marijuana!

as i remember the constitution

the states reserve all rights NOT specifically granted to the Federal goverment
the FDA governens over approval procedures for the sale of MFG pharmaceuticals
because of all the posin patnet medicine of the 19th century

is there any law that the states granted congress the right to rule over what the states do regarding drug legislation

remember the Prohibition act was federal not state and a total fiasco that made organized crime big business

all might big brother FED, needs to be dialed back,
it intent was for the protection of the states and administrating defense of the Nation

Come on...that is what you have been doing with your 'stress' issue.

I don't really care other than the subterfuge with the 'medical use'.
There is a legit use for medical reasons.......chemo/sleep disorders
It does help with nausea/lack of eating and will let someone go to sleep.

BUT it is mainly a recreational drug used to get a buzz on.

No different then having a few cocktails, beer or wine.

And when abused/over indulged/driving under the influence others end up being adversely affected

Times have indeed changed in so many ways. Good, bad, indifferent, they have changed, and hopeful my grandchildren will take the reigns and make the world they way they wish to live. I used to turn the page, now I swipe my finger across the screen, I married the woman of my dreams and we have lived happily ever after, today I could have chosen from a 50% larger population of eligible, think back to the jokes you and your friends told in the 60's (I can't even think about those jokes now!).
What I'm getting at is enjoy and Happy Trails.

Seems to me a lot of people are very concerned about rights being restricted when those rights are theirs. When they're somebody else's, not so much.
