Thetford Toilet sprays water over the front edge

Has anyone had this problem, if so how did you solve it?

If water pressure is very high, when the toilet is flushed the fresh water coming in is so strong it can't make the turn at the front and some flows over the edge on to the floor.

I use a pressure reducer/regulator, one of those preset ones. Tried two different ones but had the same problem. Don't have the problem when using the water pump because the pressure/volume of water is not as high.

Any ideas. Didn't know if I was missing a part or something that allowed this to happen.

  • Or use the city water hose to fill the tank and just use the pump.
Or don't push the pedal down so far.
Mine dumps at about the half way point.
  • I believe you have the answer to you own question since you say "Don't have the problem when using the water pump because the pressure/volume of water is not as high."

You need a reliable water pressure regulator on the city water inlet line. What brand you tried does not reduce the pressure low enough. Like was already suggested, you may want to try an adjustable water pressure regulator.

Seems to me you need a pressure regulator on the "City Water" hose. Won't fill the coffee pot as fast, but shore tie water pressure is unpredictable and can be excessive.

An adjustable regulator would be nice, you could probably find a pressure that gave you a decent shower and still didn't push water over the toilet rim. So far I've only used non-adjustable ones. The brass ones, not plastic.
  • One of those water pressure regulators should be adjustable. g'luck!
