Thor 13V-265 Recall

I had the 13V-265 recall completed last fall. The recall stated the Battery Control Centre would be rewired. What they did not say was it would be bypassed. The disconnect switch for the chassis battery does not work now. I made a quick fix by installing a manual disconnect directly on the chassis battery terminal.

Now I have a problem. My chassis battery does not hold a charge when parked. I never have made a habit of shutting off the chassis battery every time I park in storage as it is a pain having to reset clocks etc...

It could be that my chassis battery is done and needs replaced. That is a definite possibility, however, I am asking if anyone else has had a similar issue after having this recall completed. I don't have a lot of faith in what was done with the recall and wonder if that could be the culprit.

Your thoughts?
  • had the same problem. Put in a battery disconnect and that worked. Last month the Battery Control Center failed and when it was replaced - guess what the chassis disconnect came back on as before. Looks like the thing that should have been done would have been to replace the BCC as the solution to the recall and it would have been a far better fix - although a more expensive one for Thor. Keep an eye on your BCC just in case my failure was somehow related to the "fix".
  • I also did the fix myself and have not had that problem. Just out of curiosity, have you checked the parasitic load on the chassis battery? I'd at least check before replacing the battery.
  • Hi Skrams,

I did the bypass myself and although I did not have that problem (battery dying). I did proactively replace my chassis battery last year as I thought I was overdue at 7 years on an OEM battery. ;-) I figured it was easier have it done on my schedule than on a trip...

So you probably should replace the battery and see what happens.

I don't have the issue. The newer models don't even have the chassis disconnect anymore.
