Thor Axis 24.1 Owner/Driver Experiences

I'm another newbie seriously considering one of these. I note the comments to date concerning apparent difficulty in accessing/checking/filling engine fluids, battery, drains, etc. Also some issues with shower spray leakage; a failed windshield seal & wipers; and perhaps weak dash AC output. There's also widely conflicting comments as to drivability ("love it" or "hard to keep it on the road" ?!) I'd be interested in any other owner/driver experiences and lessons learned as these units start to gather more miles since their intro last fall. Key overall question for anyone who has bought one: if you had it to do over .. ? Thanks.
  • Would definitely purchase ours again!!

Much of owning a new coach seems to depend on ones attitude when confronted with factory quality control issues. All brands seem to have them and ours has been no different. Thor has stood behind any issues we have had, so we are very pleased with their customer service.

Love the floorplan, length, and width. It just works for us!! The oversized king bed in that length is the best we've seen!! Also much prefer to eat at the two front seats facing each other with the table between them. We are just not dinette people!

Do not like the size of the shower or the sewer connection being under the slide. However, it is easy to run the slide in when it is time to dump.

Several of the front cab ac problems, including ours, seem to be caused by no refrigerant in the system. While our dealership could not find the problem, our great tech did, and Thor paid to fix it.

With regards to drive ability issues we have had none. Ours has driven great from day one. From what I have heard, and seen on here, any issues seem to occur straight from the dealership. Most likely tire pressure or an easily fixed alignment issue

We had a dud windshield washer pump motor. Caused our wipers to blow a fuse when we tried to use the washer. Was irritating to lose our wipers on a rainy trip, but it is fixed now and no more issues!

As I said, an overall good experience for our first 6 months of ownership.
  • My wife and I are looking at buying a new Axis as well. We're in Colorado but looking to buy out of state. We currently have a Gulfstream TT. From reading about RV's and TT's it seems they all have their little issues that need fixed, I know our tt had its share of issues. We were looking at Class C's but we rented one and I wasn't too impressed, driving was sloppy, lots of wind noise and then the cab is basically not used when your camped. The Axis seems to address these issues. An improved suspension from the standard Class C and more room. Really like the cab chairs, swivel them around and their part of the room. The couch seems really nice and turns into a nice big bed. Most of the time will just be my wife and I and the dog, so the floorplan seems like it would work for us. We'll be talking to the dealer this week.
