  • We have a 2014 Tuscany, with no major problems in 1-1/2 years and 15k miles. Ours has one hydraulic full-wall slide, and two shorter slides with Schwintek mechanisms. The only consistent problems I've heard of with the Schwinteks have been on full-wall slides, which plagued the earlier Thor Palazzos. The problems may or may not have been largely resolved by now, using upgraded Schwintek hardware (stronger motors, steel vs. aluminum rods, and/or three tracks instead of two).

At any rate, I've yet to hear of related problems with the Tuscany slides. The Tuscany isn't a perfect coach (if such a thing exists), but it has a lot of good features for the price, and for us, the floor plan that we liked the best.

Thor is a crapshoot...I have a friend that just traded his Charleston in on a Tuscany...average with the usual not major things that need adjusting..Also, Thor is a big bang for the buck with what you get....so you get more glitz...Bad side is that at the beginning of the use of the SCHWINTEK slides, there were mega issues. if this 2013 has a SCHWINTEK slide that has not already been modified by Thor under original warranty...that could be a pain point. Do a google on schwintek slides and you will see the issues...although they claimed to have done a modification and have not heard of issues lately...

We have the SCHWINTEK slide system on both our bedroom slides. I don't know if they are 'the new and improved system' or not. I think most problems arise from folks not understand how the system works. Not operating the slide correctly will cause the slide motors be become out of sync. Stopping the slide before it opens or closes completely can cause a timing problem. Retiming the slide motors is easy and is covered on this YouTube video.

    Schwintek retiming a slide

I've had to do this just once after getting our Phaeton. No telling how the previous owner used the slide. So far no problems since then. But there's always tomorrow...
  • We have an 2008 40' and love it! I have talked with many other Tuscany owners and they also are very happy with theirs. Tuscany is their "flagship" model as they call it so maybe some of their lower end models may have issues. The Tuscany is great with many features at a respectful price.Ours has very nice wood cabinets and quality materials throughout. ALL brands occasionally have issues.Just yesterday spoke with a man with a beautiful Newell, and he is headed back to the factory to get a number of issues addressed. Yes, reviews are helpful but no matter what brand you buy check it out for your self. Whatever you get, good luck and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

  • Simply do a search on Thor and you will find quite a bit of information.
    Most not all that good.

The only one I have ever had any thing to do with belongs to my sister n Family.. it is an 07, and a piece of crap.

The whole interior is vinyl wrapped chip board, it got wet, and fell apart.
