Don't be confused, stone and tile floors are very cold, even in cool weather, when compared to walking on carpet. We do a good deal of cold weather travel and all the interior heat in the world does not make the floors comfortable (less cold at best). Luckily, we only have tile floors in the kitchen with carpet throughout the rest so we only have to keep one rug large enough so we can take a long step from the bedroom and then another long step from the run to the living room to avoid bare feet on that part of the floor.
