tinting windshield windows
I have a Damon Challenger and it is hot in the summer driving into sun. Has anyone had their windshield windows tinted and does it help and is their a shade level you suggest? thanks

- On most windshields there is an AS1 line marked on the glass. As long as the tinting is no below that line it is legal in all states.
- I use one of those fold out aluminum foil surfaced reflectors. I just ignore the "do not drive with this in place" warning since I consider that to be written by sissies.
bumpy - what's the name of the new tint?
- FWIW, there is a new tint, perhaps what FlaTom is referring to that is almost zero on the darkness meter but yet is HUGE on blocking the heat from the sun. Any shop that sells it should have a heat lamp display that can show you how effective it is. We had it put on my wife's windshield and the sun is a complete non-factor. Truly an amazing product and no one is going to see it.
- WE Tint all our windshields with titanium tent cuts glair and heat but not vision legal? no . noticeable from the outside? no. so no issues
- Lot of guys do 50% on the Whole windsheild with a tint strip up top at 15%, that way its hard to tell. Some also do 35% and a 5% tint strip, but thats a bit dark for me. I have 15% on all around and the tint strip, and I have to roll the windows down to see at night backing up, but otherwise its not bad. They say 50% is just perfect on the front
- He's not talking about tinting the WHOLE windshield, just the strip on top to keep the sun out of your eyes. It's also highly illegal to remove a catalytic converter or text and drive, but people do it every day.

Unless you're a ball player and exempt from laws. - I just had mine tinted last week. I had them install 5%, which is limo tint. My tint is 13" tall in the center of the window, more like 16" at the corner of the window. I also had the driver's and passenger's windows tinted limo. The front portion of the driver/passenger window, I only had the upper half tinted, so looking into my mirrors is still clear. The tint is about where the visor would cover anyways. It is way beyond "legal", but all my trucks and cars are way lower than legal, and i've never been pulled over for it. It cooled it down considerably in the front, especially driving right into the sun. It cost me $200 for the whole job.
