TOADS for Ventana LE

I just purchased a 2014 Newmar Ventana LE and I really thought I wanted to tow an enclosed trailer with a car inside rather than 4 down but all advice I am seeing suggests I might be wrong. My question is do all toads accrue mileage when you are towing 4 down? It would seem like you would seriously depreciate the car if it does. Would it just be best to find a small used vehicle that I wouldn't care about the mileage on?

Thanks

Thank you for all of the good advice. I am thinking something small, I kind of like the Fiat 500 or smart car. I wasn't aware of the odometer thing. I am new to the idea of towing a car and to driving the DP. I think I am going to like this...!

I towed a Honda Fit for years, just upgraded to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, better ride, more power and with the added ground clearance I can not go on high profile gravel roads.

Highly Highly recommend a Jeep and not the small matchboxes

  • I don't think towing a car four down would seriously depreciate a vehicle. There are people out there looking of used toads already set up for towing. And there are web sites where people advertise such vehicles all set up for towing (http://www.hitchtrader.com/). Seems to me that it would make the used toad more attractive.
  • There are several toads(dinghys) that can be towed 4 down with no special prep and that do not accrue mileage... Most of the jeeps are that way.. I tow a jeep... So that is my favorite dinghy Our current has 106,000 on the odometer, and another 127,000 being towed... There are a lot of others that can fill your bill.. Look at either the FMCA towing guide or the Motorhome Magazine towing guide it will give you exact information.

Towing a trailer does have some advantages none of which would fall in the handy category. There is considerable expense to set up a car to be towed, which should be a factor you consider. Tow bar, base plate, and could be a supplemental braking systems...

Take a look at the dinghy towing forum and focus on the stickies on top for addition insights..

Welcome to the forums. Newer cars DO NOT add miles as there is not a speedometer cable. You can check cars that can be towed at Remco. Most of us end up towing four down. If you put your rig in your signature it will help in the future when you have MH related questions.
