Get a written estimate from a dealer who handles Blue Ox showing the parts and labor to install what you have.

A copy you forward to them is a LOT better than a verbal answer.

Don't you have your own insurance company that can do that for you?
You can call an RV place and get an estimate for everything but your insurance company should be doing that for you.

Our insurance company had no clue. I offered to do what Wolfe suggested and they said it would save all involved much time. I actually sent my Ready Brute back for repair.

Their insurance should make you at least equal to whatever you had, including all the tow package replacement and installation. Get a lawyer, they should have to pay all the lawyer fees as part of the settlement. Don't settle untill you are satisfied. Your insurance should not be involved at all.

I guess all insurance companies are not equal. When a guy ran a red light and totaled one of our vehicles, our insurance company handled all of the details and we ended up with a very very fair settlement from his insurance company including a Mercedes rental until everything was signed off.

To directly answer your question, do you have the invoice from your original installation? The toad did not have it installed as original equipment so someone paid someone to install the hardware. That's the number you need to use and its value will be depreciated from the date of installation until now. If you can get anything, it will not be a replacement cost but rather the original cost less depreciation.

I guess some folks pay their insurance premiums for nothing. I know for a fact that I pay my insurance agent to represent ME and they have in the past. I would be "overseeing", but NOT doing the work you pay your insurance company to do.

When our toad was rear-ended while being towed, our insurance company did everything to get us a more than fair settlement from the other drivers insurance company, including finding us a replacement toad and having all the new towing equipment installed before delivering the new toad to us.

It depends on your personal insurance levels but you are insured by the company you pay. They then attempt to get the other person's insurance to pay all the damages. If they don't or the other person was inadequately insured your company pays. You should have no relationship with the other insurance.

All depends on your coverage Bill. We have "replacement" coverage on all the accessories and towing equipment on our vehicles.

Mine (Progressive) paid. We had 30 days rental and Honda took two months to fix and Progressive made the body shop (Honda) pay it.
Honda Element had just come out and it needed a rear clip.
What was weird is the person that rear ended us was not ticketed as we parked on the side of the road and she claimed a phantom car pulled out in front of her and she had no choice.
