- jaugustonExplorerI tow a Suzuki Samurai. 4WD 2200# four down to tow with no alterations and fun to drive. Tracker and Sidekick are newer versions.

We would like to tow a vehicle without having to use a trailer. Which vehicle is best?
Bodyguard, you have to give us a little more information. What are your intentions with the tow vehicle and your needs?
We don't go off road but I like AWD. I like the height of a small SUV just in case I have to straddle a gator (rubber tire) in the road and I don't want it to get caught under a low profile tow vehicle.
We are on our second Honda CR-V... had an '07 and now '13. We wanted the navigation system in both because once we are at our destination, it is a major tool to find places/addresses while touring.
CR-V's are light (3,400 lbs.), seat five, have plenty of storage and get 22 city, 30 hwy. It's a well rounded 'do-it-all' vehicle. Ours is AWD but it's more of a passive system, not like a Jeep. If the front wheels lose traction, the rear wheels kick in.
There are a lot of good tow vehicles and there is one waiting just for you!
MM. - GlennLeverExplorerBoy, there are some Jeep haters here.
Mileage is not everything. If you are driving a MH I would say the mileage is not a big concern.
This works for me.
You need to pick what is best for you. - Sully2Explorer

Jeeps are gas guzzlers, hard enough getting 5-9mpg with the MH.
Honda and Saturn would be my first choices with Honda taking the first place. Saturn is out of business, but they are light and tow well.
I get 20 mpg with my V6 Liberty Jeep. Lots of cars nowadays dont get that...PLUS I have the 4wheel drive feature - John_JoeyExplorerJeeps are gas guzzlers, hard enough getting 5-9mpg with the MH.

Good luck and safe travels! - mikemcmanigalExplorerWe use an HHR. Well equipped for options for about $20,000. Has OnStar if pay by month. Very good for weak signal areas. Great for NFS campgrounds in emergency. I had flat tire on MH saved a trip to town for cell signal. Car is easy to get into and out of. HHR means high head room.

Don't think there is a BEST vehicle for everyone.
You can get some ideas here.
http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/what-cars-can-be-flat-towed-behind-an-rv.html - SnomasExplorerI tow a 2012 Ford Explorer. Has lots of room for DW and dogs when we stay in winter months. The jeep wrangler is nice but too small and bounces a lot on Freeways! Some people tow Lincoln's and Caddy's. You have to decide what's best for you. IMHO!
