Towing Jeep Cherokee Sport

Wondering how many tow or have towed a 2000 jeep Cherokee w/ their "C"
and how it worked out.
Mine weighs 3460lbs
All answers appreciated.
Thanks E.P.

So when does it make sense to use a trailer instead of flat towing? Big 4X4 tires that you don't want to wear out?

I don't have room for a trailer on my property, but could squeeze a 4X4 toad in to the driveway somewhere.

It makes sense when your brother in law owns the trailer and keeps it at his shop.
  • A trailer makes sense if you plan to break your 4x4 or if it isn't capable of being driven on the highway. I plan to rent a trailer or dolly if I break mine badly; however, I don't plan to break it and I don't have a habit of breaking it.

  • I have a Roadmaster Stowmaster towbar and a Ready Brake. Bought both off eBay a few years back. For the towbar mounts, I bought the quick disconnect plates from Roadmaster and bolted them to my off-road bumper.

What type of tow bar and braking system do you use?
  • Great vehicle to tow behind a motorhome if 4x4. The head for that year 4.0 liter are known to be a weak spot, and known to crack and leak anti-freeze into the oil. Keep an eye on it. Otherwise, I love the XJs!
  • No problem pulling it but stopping it is the issue. I am looking into towing my 08 JK but haven't decided on the tow bar or braking system. I have an E-450

chassis 29ft. motorhome. I may just trailer it.
