Aftermarket TPMS is designed for drivers that are concerned enough about safety to monitor their tire pressures and temps while underway, as well as before starting out. NHTSA mandated TPMS expands on that. Government mandated seat belts and airbags are not a replacement for safe driving, but they sure are life savers when that's not enough to prevent a crash. TPMS helps cut down on tire related crashes.
