I see no reason for the government to get more involved in my RV experience then they are. What happened to pre trip inspection and checking your tire pressure during and after your travel? It would seem to me this system is designed for drivers that don't do the proper maintenance or pre trip checks. I would never depend on a government mandated gadget for my safety. JMHO.
While I agree about not wanting more government involvement, TPMS serves a great purpose and is not meant to ignore pre trip inspection. In fact it actually does the pre trip tire psi check for you. And if you can't find the value in a proven method for knowing if there is an issue during your trip as opposed to sitting still, then I hope your luck continues. The possibility of an issue and subsequent damage is exponentially increased travelling on the highway than sitting in your driveway before a trip. Once you get there is a little too late. Isn't monitoring all the time better than almost none of the time?
As far as manufacturers, I know that high end models include them. As all things it comes down to cost. It's another thing they will add that they won't be able to charge you enough for to make it worthwhile. There are probably liability issues as well. If they add them, they have to warranty them, and if they fail and cause catastrophe do they open the door for a suit?
but I think most will agree, definitely a good idea.
Wonder if you can order a coach with them. The good internally mounted ones.
