Very interesting point of view. Trust an electrical sensor, that could be inaccurate over a mechanical scale. Being in the heavy duty transmission business, I like the dip stick method just fine.
This is a very long dip stick -- probably on the order of 7 or 8 feet long so it could even thermally expand or contract. Now add in the fact that when you draw it out, it wipes itself off a bit over that length of dragging and suddenly your mechanical scale starts to lose a bit of luster. It is very, very hard to read this thing accurately. You'll have to trust me on this.
The electrical sensor tells me how many quarts I'm high or low. I'm thinking it is far more sophisticated than a simple sensor that you may imagine.
