Trim attached to sliding window

I have a 1999 Harney Renegade. On both sliding windows in the main salon, the trim which attaches to the sliding window which you use to pull and push the window open and close has come loose from the window pane itself. The trim fits over a rubber sleeve which inturn slips over the window edge. I can fit it all back on but as soon as I try to pull the window open the trim pulls loose from the window. looks like I may have to use some type of glue or epoxy. Anybody have any experience with this problem ? I appreciate the help.
  • When I rebuilt my fogged window, I re-attached the metal bar with the same sealant I used on the windows, which was C.R. LAURENCE 877 CRL Super Spacer Sealant. I could not get the old rubber gasket back into place. Mine has held up well with just the super spacer sealant holding it together.

I would not suggest using epoxy to attach the metal bar. Some day you may have to get that bar off again due to fogging windows.

  • I rebuilt the dual pane windows in our MH. The sliders have a metal bar like yours to open and close them. They also had a piece of rubber sandwiched between the bar and glass with some type of adhesive on it. I used 3M trim adhesive/tape. The tape is too thick and sticky to use on both sides so I used it on the inside and end of the dual pane and DAP Clear adhesive on the outside. I rebuilt 6 window units, those bars aren't coming off, they're there to stay.
