THe life of a lead acid battery depends on two things.
One: the quality of the battery.. Trojan's are very high quality.
Two: the care and feeding.. Example go 5 years without checking the fluid level. Odds are that battery is TOAST.
Excessive over or under charging can kill 'em too
Youngest battery I have replaxed 1 year (Bad charger. stupid then , learned since) Youngest properly maintained battery 1 week. alas the battery was defective.
Youngest GOOD battery properly mainteined, the startin battery on current towed, 5 years
Average life of a properly maintained GC-2 (like the Trojan T-105) 7-10 years with Trojan's tending more toward the high end.
Oldest battery I know of still in service 12 years. that as an AGM starting battery.
This does not mean there are not older Lead acid batteries and 12 years for an aGM is .. fantastic in that service. (or any other lead acid battery) Generally if it's 10 years old the owner's do not recall when last replaced.
I know the ages because
1: New RV (The interstates were OEM) My grand son was born in 2014 (The new DEKAs) and I've onwed the car 5 years had to replace the battery soon after purchase.
