Trouble Getting Lens Covers Off Ceiling Lights

Anyone have any good ideas on how to get the glass lens covers off ceiling lights? I have several bulbs that have burned out and want to replace them, but I have twisted until my arm was going to break and can't budge 3 or 4 of them. I got one free and verified I am twisting them correctly, they just won't come loose.
  • Every time the temperature changes dramatically in my coach, the lenses fall out. The original ones are OK, but I replaced a fixture and that is the one that falls out.

I use a rubber circular jar opener and they come right off

  • X-Country_Traveler,
Just for info, it would be nice to know what kind/make/model/year coach you have because many folks might have the same one and have learned how to deal with the "stubborn" lens issue. We have an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD and it has many different kinds of ceiling lights. The ones that have given me trouble are the 3" "Puck" lights. They are almost flush with the ceiling and are sometimes very stubborn in removing the lens/cover. They are a twist off but, they don't twist very far.

And, I don't know about yours but, the ones in our coach were the 10watt Halogen with what's called a G-4 base. In certain circumstances, I've had to put a pair of larger channel locks carefully on the outer diameter to assist in the "breaking" of the seal (so to speak). I've put a towel or, some masking tape around them too prior to using the pliers. Good luck.
