The level is not critical - unless it's not showing on the dipstick. If it's a little high, don't worry about it. If it's way over the mark, it might foam-up on you. The only way to lower it is slip a small tube into the dipstick tube and suck some out. If you do that, don't take out more than a cup at a time before checking the level again.
