Unified Tow Brake

Anybody use the unified tow brake, this device install is what so far has been the worst experience of my life. I went to pick up our new 2014 Georgetown and they wired it and my jeep up. They removed a plastic skid plate from under my jeep for the demco plate install and i dont like that nor was i told about it. The wiring job is absolutly awful and prolly not safe.

I didnt bring the RV home the wiring in the coach (they think) isnt right.

I havent found any real reviews of the product. I will be calling the dealer back tomorrow epecting to ask to have it all uninstalled and i'm not sure how they will react to that.

  • Bad installer. Probably first one he did & he was in a hurry to finish it up. Sad. That is why I wired my own toad.
  • I used the UTB on two different outfits and found it to be excellent, including a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The manual override even saved my skin on one occasion so I have a particular affinity to it.

The difference was that on both occasions I did the install myself - it's not difficult if you are agile enough to be able to work in the drivers footwell. The wiring is pretty straightforward as they supply the loom and all the connectors.
  • We use the unified tow brake and have used in on 2 coaches and 3 cars. It is still working as it is supposed to. The wiring can all be installed very neatly to the point where it is barely visible. The only place I had difficulty on my present car was finding a place to get the wires through the firewall. The coach wiring on both was not difficult. I do not know anything about the skid plate or Demco tow brackets but the unified tow brake by US Gear has been a good brake system for us. If the wiring is done poorly, that is the fault of the installing technician, not the brake system. Hope this will help, Happy Trails Bert
