update on PacBrake

After freeing up my PacBrake I was suspicious it still wasn't functioning. I had someone drive my MH while I observed the brake. It was not functioning but when I tapped the arm with a hammer it engaged. It needed to be adjusted so it was off center and it's working now. Turbo boost is zero when it engages. I believe it was out of adjustment since new. I just would like to thank everybody for the advice you shared as a lot of it was useful.:)
  • Try Ace hardware for SuperLube. They make the PacBrake label stuff. Bottle looks the same but has SuperLube label.
  • A number of years ago a Pac Brake representative told me that if you are going to "not use" your RV for several months, you should definitely lube the mechanical assembly. However, he further said, if you use it regularly, you do not have to lubricate it. We run our motorhome at least once per month all year round, living in Florida, and have had Pac Brakes for over 18 years now and have never lubricated the Pac Brake. We have never had a problem. Some of our brakes have run over 90,000 miles.

  • Yes I am now using the PacBrake lubricant. But being that it actually functions now should help along with the lube. :D

Have you used the special lube on it? It's supposed to be serviced on a regular basis.

can you tell us the name of the lube please ? also where to put the lube at ?

Here is the PACBRAKE LUBE product. Doing a Google search will find several places that sell it.

  • A friend of mine was doing the same "hammer fix" dropped the hammer and it went into the fan--radiator. BE Careful if you try this.!
