  • Spartan will treat you very well if you ever need to contact them.

I think the 97 Spartan's were all solid front axle...so no ball joint issues.

My guess would be that you have the C8.3 300 HP engine....a mechanical workhorse (not electronic) that runs forever providing you give it clean fuel and clean air!

I would also guess that you have the Allison 3060 six speed tranny...another bullet proof component of your Dutch Star.

    Congrats!!!
  • Newmar makes (and always has made) a quality coach, so you have a good foundation to start on. The rest depends on how it's been maintained and taken care of from the beginning.
  • Sharpe,

Don't know if it is important to you but Cummins first went to electronic controlled engines in 98, at least in the ISB. This enables me to use my VMSpc for troubleshooting and additional display data. Anyway thought I would mention that.
  • We have a 98....Love it!
Annual Lube,Filters and Oil Change is the usual routine.
Ours is on a Spartan Chassis so We do have those pesky Ball Joint Boots!
Find Yourself a Good reliable Place that services Heavy Duty Trucks and get to know the guy that does the general services such as Chassis Lubes and Oil Changes!
